DAY ONE

Inbound—El Calafate, El Chaltén

  • Arrival El Calafate, greet and assistance from the terminal
  • Private transfer to El Chaltén, the trekking capital of Argentina
  • Stop along the way to visit Bosque Petrificado La Leona, a prehistoric forest containing petrified tree trunks and fragments of dinosaur bones from the Jurassic era
  • Continue to El Chaltén, the notorious trekking capital of Argentina located beneath the towering Fitz Roy massif in Los Glaciares National Park
  • For dinner, head to La Cervecería for local Patagonian craft brews and homemade pizza for the kids

DAY TWO                                              BREAKFAST/LUNCH

El Chaltén

  • Breakfast at your hotel
  • Embark on a privately guided hiking excursion to Laguna Capri with a local expert, gaining insights into the unique flora and fauna of the area and savoring magnificent views of Mount FitzRoy, Cerro Torre, and Poincenot (if weather permits)
  • Or, for a non-active option, board a kid-friendly cruiser for a boat tour of the Viedma Glacier, one of the largest glaciers in all of South America
  • Picnic lunch at a scenic location overlooking the Andes
  • Return to El Chaltén in the afternoon
  • Dinner at La Tapera,, a family-friendly traditional Patagonian eatery that is favorite among locals and travelers alike

DAY THREE                              BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER

El Chaltén, El Calafate

  • Breakfast at your lodge
  • In the morning, rise early for a short hike to Mirador de los Condores, where you will likely encounter the Andean condor, the world’s largest flying birds
  • After the optional early morning hike, private transfer from the park headquarters to Estancia Nibepo Aike
  • On the way, stop for a bite to eat at the famous fort where legendary outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid once resided during their exile in South America
  • Dinner at the main cottage

El Calafate

  • Breakfast at your hotel
  • Morning horseback riding excursion to Lago Argentino’s hidden glaciers led by one of the estancia’s resident gauchos (the horses are notoriously docile and user-friendly at the estancia). You may also choose a hiking or biking excursion if you
    would prefer
  • Lunch at the main cottage
  • In the afternoon, take part in a gaucho cultural exchange, participating in rural tasks and gaining first-hand insights into the gaucho way of life. These activities include milking the cows, helping in the stable, and experiencing a traditional sheep-shearing demonstration (rural tasks are optional but recommended since there is no additional charge)
  • For dinner, head to the quincho for fine Argentine wines and traditional lamb patagónica prepared over a cross stake in authentic Patagonian fashion
  • After dinner, return to your hotel in Nibepo

  • Breakfast at your lodge
  • Full-day guided excursion of your choice in Torres del Paine National Park. If weather permits, you may choose to hike through the beautiful French Valley, getting an up-close view of the “homs” (“cuernos”) of the Paine massif. Or, embark on a wildlife safari in search of Patagonia’s Big Five (the puma, the condor, the huemul, the guanaco, and the lesser rhea)
  • Picnic lunch during the excursion
  • Return to your lodge in the late afternoon
  • In the evening, meet with your local expert guides to select your desired excursion for the following day based on your family’s interests and the anticipated weather conditions
  • Dinner at your lodge

Torres del Paine

  • Breakfast at your lodge
  • Full-day guided excursion of your choice in Torres del Paine National Park. If weather permits, you may hike along the W route towards the awe-inspiring “towers” (“torres”) of the Paine massif. Or, take a boat journey to the beautiful Grey Glacier for an easy hike along the beach
  • Picnic lunch during the excursion
  • Return to your lodge in the late afternoon, stopping periodically as you encounter wildlife along the way
  • Dinner at your lodge
